Eagles 8 Comets 1

The Eagles were led by Kevin Culp who pitched a great game and had three hits with two RBI’s.  Joe Leone played well at first base and had three hits, one being a double, with one RBI.  Three other players had two hits a piece including Bob Dorenberg, Gary Jones and Craig Wright.  Many thanks to Ron Miller for filling in for Bill Krieger the last two innings. The Comets played the Eagles in 5 inning game. The score was Eagles 8 comets 1.  The game was tied going into the 3rd inning when the Eagles scored 5 runs and never looked back.

The Comets made 2 great double plays. Highlighted by Aaron Oseroff making a great catch and doubling the runner on 3rd base. Another great double play was highlighted by Tom Boyce making a great play at first base and doubling the runner going from second base to third. Hitting stars for the Comets were  Aaron Oseroff, Charlie Whitaker and John Tvarok with 2 hits each. Wildcats 16 Devils 12

A 26 hit attack by the Wildcats today led to a 16-12 win for the P&B team against the Jersey Devils.  Frank Glauser led the way with 4 hits followed by 3 hits from Ed Schmidt, Steve Sheele, Bill Porter and Warren Fuchs. 2 hits also from Hal Katz, Larry Restivo, Mike Segal, and Bobby J. Which  led to the win today over the Devils who also had a big hitting day and scored 12 runs to keep the game competitive.

Lions 20 Wolverines 4

After scoring only one run in our previous game against the Wildcats, the Lions rebounded with three 5 run inning and a six run 7th inning for a 21-5 victory over the Wolverines.  Interestingly,   Having perfect days at the plate were, Steve Belenko, A gimpy Tom Delaney and ageless Bill Howland who went 4 for 4 and played an excellent mid field. Larry Landes, Dale Cassidy and Tracy Zimmerman each had 2 hits. Gary Bennett and Al Avello and welcome to the league, newcomer Norm Ostroff each had one for 2 with a walk for the bottom of the batting order. Credit to the team for playing nearly flawless defense.

Wolverines trounced by Lions (who could expect something different - Lions outweigh Wolverines 400# to 80#) by 20 - 4. Both Wolverines pitchers surrendered two 5-run innings. Wolverines defense, with the exception of a gratuitous DP in the 2nd inning, was virtually non-existent. The miscues readily became de rigueur. Thanks to Esterly and Tvorak for rounding out the fielding scheme.

Blue Jays 8 Panthers 3

The Blue Jays defeated the Panthers 8 to 3 in a game that was called after 5 inning due to heat.  The Jays scored 4 runs in the first and added 4 more in the 4th to seal the victory.  The win was a total team effort with everyone contributing.  The Jays played solid defensively led by Jack McNulty and Tom Boyle.  Thanks go to Tom Boyle who subbed in to pitch for Tom Delaney, who was slated to sub for Jim O'Brien, whose team proved that they are a better team when he isn't there.

The Panthers dropped the game with the Blue Jays by a score of 8-3 in a heat shortened 5 inning game.  The Panthers played with 10 players due to injuries and vacations.  The game was close going into the bottom of the 4th inning when the Panthers had a defensive meltdown and allowed 5 runs.  Offensively the Panthers posted 11 hits with Doug Rutter hitting a triple and going 1-3.  Carl Weigand and Jack Zupan each went 2-3 in the game.  Thanks to Steve Belenko and Frank Glauser for subbing.
