Classics 14 Blue Jays 3

The Classic played a great team game with good fielding, timely hitting and great pitching by our even tempered pitcher Tom Boyle.
The Classic in the bottom of the first scored 4 runs, another 4 runs in the fourth and three runs in the sixth totaling fourteen runs. Classic held the hard hitting Blue Jays to three runs and won the game 14-3.
Good hitting by Ron Cohen, Paul Stetsko, Tony Baccari, Andy Markowitz and John Breig all had two hits each but Fred Eberhardt had an all star game with three hits and a double dink catch. Ron Miller played a great first base also by catching a hard hit line drive to save us from taking him to the hospital.

The Blue Jays looked good for the team picture, after that not so much.  The defense took the day off as did the offense.  Fred Weiner and Tom Sikora were the only Jays with 2 hits in the game.  There were some well hit balls but they went directly to Classic fielders.  The Classics played a great game and deserved a win.  The Blue Jays did not.

Devils 10 Flames 0

Devils played a flawless game on defense while Kevin Culp pitched a fabulous game, with a 10-0 shutout.  Ken Riess went 3-3 while Jerry Barlow and Frank Froio went 2-3.  Kevin Culp and Tom Reither went 3-4 while Tom hit a huge triple today.  Defense, great pitching, and hits was the key to the win for the Devils.

The Flames lost to the Devils on Tuesday 10-0.  Despite the Devils team name, it was the Flames who went to hell setting what is believed to be a Senior Softball League record by being shutout in two consecutive games.  Manager Tom Cosgrove has stopped accessing social media due to the demands for his replacement. The Devils Kevin Culp tossed a nine-hit shutout and also had 3 strikeouts.  The Flames were done in by solid hitting up and down the Devils' lineup.  For the Flames, Norm Derry and Tom Cosgrove each had two hits with single hits from Derek Foster, Frank Glauser, Carl Weigand, Gene Harris, and Ron Tuminski.  Kevin Grevera made a stellar defensive play with a diving catch in shallow leftfield doing his part to keep the game close.

Wildcats 10 Eagles 9

In a Close Game that wasn’t decided until the bottom of the 8th the Wildcats squeaked past the Eagles by the Score of 10-9, The Wildcats started the Bottom of the 8th with a Runner on 2nd then with 1 out Monroe had an infield single moving the runner, George Grove to 3rd Base.  Now with Runners on 1st and 3rd and 1 out Joe Trovato stepped to the Plate and proceeded to follow Monroe’s lead with another infield hit scoring Groves from 3rd giving Joe Trovato the Game Winning RBI
The Wildcats were led by Charlie Whitaker 3 for 3, Larry Restivo and Gene Rubin both going 2 for 3!!! Monroe Weingarten was also 2 for 3 with 2RBI’s, Franklin Smith and George Groves were both 2 for 3 and both guys had a Triple and  last but not least Dave Noa was 1 for 3 with a 3 Run Home Run.  The Eagles played a good defensive game and fought to the very END !!! Our Hats 🎩 🎩 off to the 🦅 🦅 a Great Bunch of Guys and a Gal!!

The Eagles and the Wildcats played a very close game through all seven innings and the Wildcats pulled it out in the eighth inning winning ten to nine in a back and forth tight game. The Eagles were led by Ted Henritzy who went 3 for 3 followed by 5 players who each had 2 hits including Greg Peters, Dale Cassidy, Andy Cohen, Judy Agasar and Dave Detailer.  Barry Windsor pitched and fielded his position very well as did his counterpart Tom Delaney for the Wildcats. It was a very entertaining game.

Starr 16 Panthers 12

Game started out great for Starr as they rushed out to a 9 to 1 lead going into the bottom of the fourth. At this point Starr's defense collapsed, committing 6 errors and allowing the Panthers to tie the score at 9 to 9.  Starr then scored 2 in the top of the 5th, but the Panthers came back with 2 in the bottom of the 5th to again tie the score. Starr struck back with a 5 run 6th and coasted to a 16 to 12 victory. Even though the Starr team tried to give the game away, our bats supplied enough punch to compensate for sloppy play defensively. Bill Schwartz pitched well, not walking any batters. Also Dr Mike for the Panthers did not walk a batter. Offensively Starr was led by Larry Levin hitting 2 home runs and 5 rbi's. Ron Fein and Spencer Synderman each going 4 for 4.Chipping in with 3 hits was Terry Klein,Bill Schwartz.  Before getting injured Lee Bullman was 3 for 3.  Jack Donohue and Harris Braunstein  chipped in 2 hits each.  Terry Abrams and Jay Passman added 1 hit each. Playing shorthanded, Starr played great offensively as a team win. Thanks goes out to Tom Delaney for his inspirational words of wisdom and foul language. Great motivational speaker  (team made more errors today after Tom's words of wisdom)

The Panthers almost pulled out the comeback of the season against Starr scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game at 9 apiece.  However they gave up 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning with strong hitting by Starr and dropped the game by a score of 16-12.  The Panthers gave up two 5 run innings defensively which made the difference in the outcome.  Offensively Ed Occhi, Gary Jones and Clete Mahoney each went 3-4; John Rozzolis, Mike Segal, Howard Wible, and Craig Wright went 2-4.  The Panthers ended with 21 hits for the game.
