2024 Tournament Day 6 results
Blue Jays 7 Eagles 1
After the Eagles racked up 16 runs against the Devils, the Blue Jays expected the Eagles to come out swinging. They did. But the early hits couldn't be sustained and the Blue Jays went on to win 7 to 1. The Jay's outfield combination of Bob Dolan and Scott Comer played great and that's pretty much what they have done all season. The infield made the big plays when needed to prevent the Eagles from adding runs.
The Jays rallied for runs in the first and third innings and both rallies were initiated by Del Kates, who scored in both innings. Jack McNulty followed Del going 3 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Jim O'Brien was 2 for 3 with a run and 2 RBI's. Bob Dolan had a perfect day going 2 for 2 with a double and a run scored. Jeff Blank kicked in with a critical 2 RBI single and Mark "Whitey" Jerden was 2 for 2 with a big 2 out RBI single to cap the 5 run third inning.
Congratulations to the Eagles on a great season.
In honor of the Phillies losing in the playoffs 4 to 1 the Eagles outdid the Phillies by losing7 to 1. Just about every player wanted to be like the Phillies and didn't have more than 1 hit. Of course there are always exceptions like Ted Henritzy who went 3 for 3 and Greg Peters who went 2 for 2 the Eagles did take the lead in the first inning scoring Ed Brandriff on a single by Ted henritzy but that was all the Eagles could score as the Blue Jays scored 2 runs in the first inning and then 5 more in the third as the Blue Jays put the game away, Bill Howland pitched very well while walking only 1 batter but the Eagles just couldn't get going and went scoreless in the final 6 innings. Congratulations to the Blue Jays for reaching the finals of the tournament. They played very well and really earned the opportunity to play Starr. We wish both teams an enjoyable time trying to win the tournament.
