Eagles 10 Blue Jays 7

The Eagles played a very tough Blue Jays team today.  The Eagles were successful in a very close and competitive win over the Blue Jays to advance to playoff final with a 1.  The Eagles scored at least one run every inning to secure the victory and hold the Blue Jays scoreless in the last two innings.
The Eagles had seven players with two hits apiece including John Salmon, Howard Wible, Bob Esterly, Dave Cartwright, Gary Jones, Ron Mangini and Kevin Culp.  Dave Cartwright played excellent in left field.  Joe Leone made some good plays at first base.  Howard Wible played very well at third base and Kevin Culp not only pitched great but also hustled over to first base to assist Joe Leone on plays.  Thanks goes out to Jerry Barsky for keeping score.  The Blue Jays proved to be a very formidable opponent and I am glad we don't have to tangle with them again this year.

Kevin Culp's pitching and the Eagles defense limited the Blue Jays to 7 runs on 13 hits as the Eagles advanced to the postseason tournament final to face off against the Lions.  The Jays defense played well keeping them in a close game until the final out.  In the top of the 6th inning the Eagles lead was 8 to 7.  It was what you would expect in tournament play, a well played game by both teams.  Lee Bullman made a good catch in right center field to end a bases loaded Eagles threat and threw a runner out at second base. Steve Bradley converted a hard Eagle grounder into an inning ending double play.  Leading the Jays offense with 2 hits each were Rich Dempsey (double), Lee Bullman, Tom Jakubowski and Augie Rosenblatt.  Tom Redding, Jim O'Brien, Jack McNulty, Ron Decker and Ken Radon all chipped in with one hit.  Steve Bradley contributed a sacrifice fly RBI.

After the game the Blue Jays presented their manager, Jim O'Brien, with an original painting by Ken Radon signed by all members of the team.  Ken does original artwork in a very unique style and if interested you can check out his work on his web page at  I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of the members of Jays team for their contribution in making 2022 both a successful and enjoyable season.
