2023 Tournament Day 5 results

Wildcats 17 Eagles 1

A solid 23 hit attack by the Wildcats defended by a sloppy infield defense gave the EAGLES a 17-1 defeat today and sent the Wildcats to victory.  Poor fielding by the infield today and three 5 run innings sent the Eagles to an early trip to the grandstand this morning.  A 23 hit attack and good fielding drove the Wildcats of Puss & Boots to a well earned victory this morning.  A perfect 4 hit day from Ed Schmidt and 3 hits each from Ed Brandriff, Frank Slack, and George Groves gave the Wildcats a big lead. 2 hits each from Vince Burkett, Tracy Zimmerman, Doug Rutter, and pitcher Ron Miller who today only issued 1 walk and only 1 run scored by the usually powerfull Eagles.

The Eagles and the Wildcats played a very close game in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th inning with the Wildcats holding a 2-1 lead over the Eagles.  However, The Eagles were required to play the 1st, 2nd and 6th innings where the Wildcats edged the Eagles by outscoring them by 15 runs.  The Wildcats managed to win 17-1 over the “hard-hitting" Eagles.  The star of the game for the Eagles was Tom Boyce who made the final out in the seventh inning.  The Eagles thank the league for having the 5 Run Rule as I am sure Andy the umpire appreciated it’s existence.

Iron Pigs 14 Classics 5

The Iron Pigs defeated the Classic 14 to 5 with a barrage of 25 hits.  Jeff Blatt, Dave Detwiler, Howard Wible, Mike Segal and Judy Agasar all had 3 hits.  Jack McNulty had 2 hit including a double with 2 walks.  Rich Dempsey and Dave Courtright also had 2 hits.
