2023 Tournament Final Results

Iron Pigs 12 Classics 7

The Iron Pigs defeated the Classics 12 to 7 despite being shorthanded with only 10 players. The Classics plated 2 runs in the first inning and the Iron Pigs responded with 4 in the bottom of the first. The Classics got 3 runs in the top of the third to take a 5 to 4 lead but the Iron Pigs responded again with 5 in the fourth and 3 more in the fifth. The Iron Pigs then held the Classics to two runs for the rest of the game with the final score being 12 to 7. Jack McNulty had a perfect day at the plate with a single, triple and 2 walks. Tom Boyle, Howard Wible, Rich Dempsey, Dave Detwiler all had 3 hits. Jim Stabene chipped in with 2 hits. The game was the end to a great season with congratulation to Eric and the Classics for making it all the way to the final.

The Classics came back from being in the bottom of the standing in the first half to mount a second half winning streak. Which got the Classics team in the championship round. Well done!

The Classics scored 2 run in the top of the first but the Iron Pigs came back with 4 runs to lead 4-2. In the 3rd the Classics scored 3 runs to lead the Iron Pigs 5-4 but could not hold the lead with the Iron Pigs scoring 5 run in the bottom of the 4th for 9-5 lead, In the top of the 5th Classics scored 1 run but Iron Pigs came back with 3 runs for a 12-6 lead. Classics scored one more run in top of the 7th but fell short to lose 12-7.
Well played game with good pitching by Ed Betancourt and fielding.
Good hitting with 3 hits were Aaron Sacharov and Eric Gottlieb and with 2 hits Charlie Whittaker, Bill Krieger and Howard Borachaner.
