2024 Draft Completed

The 2024 draft started with a recognition award going to Al Avello.  Al was prevented with a bespoke softball that featured
pictures of Al in his playing days.  Al was one of the founding fathers of the softball league, a great player, a great teammate,
a manager, a champion and a friend.  Al has decided to hang up his cleats.  He was a key factor in making the league what it
is today, an insane asylum.  Thank you Al.

Afterward there was recognition given to our board of directors.  Each director was singled out and their many
and numerous contributions were identified.  We owe a lot to the board with the possible exception of Craig who
is our Treasurer and already has all of our money.

Next up we wanted to recognize our managers.  We have nine managers this year and 3 new managers in Tom Cosgrove,
Gene Reeber and Ron Mangini.  We appreciate them stepping up and assuming this responsibility.  Our managers:

We wanted to recognize our field prep crew, specifically Craig Wright, Bob Gaines and Ron Miller but all three
of them had the good sense not to attend.

We didn't have pictures of the players when they were yound like we did last season so what we did was took some
of last years pictures and tested them with a special age progression process to see if the aging process image actually
matched what we look like today.  Here are some samples.

There were rumors going around that some of the players coming in from the Monday Friday League
were professional ball players.  We searched the internet and found some of their baseball cards.

Then we actually got around to the draft.  Almost.  First we had to introduce our sponsor for the draft
Japp Power Bars and show a commercial.  We had additional commercials after every 5 rounds.
The Japp Commercials were mind numbingly boring but if you would like to see them you can find them on
Youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJo0vifkmzo

After all that we did actually start the draft.  Jim Stabene took great pride in being the first of 126 players
drafted by a computer that doesn't know anything about softball.  John Breig was the last player selected
and was awarded a $50 gift card to Puss N Boots.  Coincidentally John had donated a $50 gift card to
the league to help offset expenses 3 week ago.

The draft looked like this:
